Description
Vegan Chocolate cake is easy to make and even yummier to eat! Try this chocolate cake recipe without the dairy and eggs. If you've never ventured down such a path before you'll be surprised how much rich gooey cakeness can come from a vegan recipe.
Ingredients
- 1 1/4 cups flour
- 1 cup brown sugar
- 1/3 cup cocoa
- 1 tsp baking soda
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1 cup warm water
- 1 tsp vanilla
- 1/3 cup oil
- 1tsp distilled white or apple cider vinegar
- Glaze:
- 1/2 cup brown sugar
- 4 tbsp margarine
- 2 tbsp milk replacement (soy, almond, rice)
- 2 tbsp cocoa
- 2 tsp vanilla
Steps
For Cake:
1.) mix dry ingredients in mixing bowl, stir
2.) add in wet ingredients, the final ingredient being the vinegar
3.) Pre-heat oven to 350 F and bake for 30 mins, or until cooked. Fits nicely in a 8" by 8" pan
For Glaze:
1.) in a sauce pan, bring to boil everything minus the vanilla
2.) simmer for 2 mins
3.) remove from heat and stir for 5 mins
4.) add vanilla and once thick, pour onto cake
Additional Tips
Decorations are a nice addition to this vegan chocolate cake, try sprinkles of any sort or drizzle jam or compote over the top. Fresh fruit goes exceptionally well on vegan chocolate cake.
